How it all began...
The carpentry was founded in 1902 in Waldkirch by Xaver Bayer, who is the great grandfather of the current owner. 10 years later, in 1912, the whole company moved to Elzach. In 1954 Xaver Bayer handed the firm over to his son Franz Xaver Bayer.
He soon recognized the demand for energy saving concepts and in 1957-1958 the emphasis of his work was on the development of insulating glass.
Insulating glass is innovative in its concept, it saves energy, lowers costs and became standard in the building industry. In 1963 the Bayer company starts building an insulation factory in Elzach and only 7 years later, in 1970, a second factory is built in Berlin.
In 1972-1973 the company is handed over to the sons. In the following years and decades the emphasis was not only on the production of insulating glass and windows, but also on the development of new insulation concepts.
By now this includes the whole range from fundamental research to the development of new machinery for the production.
Due to structural reasons the divisions were administratively separated in 1999. Nevertheless, the close cooperation of all branches continues.
Besides the main areas of window construction and insulating glass, the Bayer carpentry is also a competent partner for all questions concerning the house: from front door to interior works to conservatories.
